Participants from 12 cities across Texas gathered at the 2018 TxSWANA Road-E-O at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas, on June 9. Four rodeo-style events were organized for competitors to showcase their skills in equipment operations. These events included an automatic side loader obstacle course, a rear loader and roll-offs competition, a tractor-trailer course and a landfill equipment course.

“This is a great event,” said Holly Holder, environmental sector director. “It’s fun to watch these guys show their abilities to operate this equipment be it the landfill events here or over on the parking area where they’re doing all the collection vehicle events. It’s a fun event to watch and these guys have a lot of camaraderie, and the winner gets to take home a nice belt buckle. It’s a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills.”

Parkhill, Smith & Cooper was one of the many sponsors for this year’s events. Holly, Nick Ybarra, project manager for the Solid Waste Team, and  Tyler Krueger, PE, served as judges for two of the competitive courses shown in this week’s Time-Lapse Tuesday.
